Who We Are

UTILITY ASSISTANCE

CEAP - Utility assistance is provided under the CEAP program, a federally funded program administered statewide by the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs. EACGC is a sub-grantee contracted by TDHCA, to administer the CEAP Program in Matagorda and Wharton County. Under CEAP, priority is given to low-income, elderly/disables individuals and families with children five years of age or  under. All applicants must meet the Fedreal Income Guidelines for the current year. EACGC provides services only for Matagorda and Wharton County residents.

 Neighbor to Neighbor - A CPL Retail Energy sponsored program. Must be a CPL, Direct Energy or First Choice client to participate and must meet Federal Income Guidelines for the current year.

TXU - A TXU sponsored program. You must be a TXU client to participate in this program.

United Way - The Matagorda County United Way provides EACGC with funds to assist low-income clients with utilities. Clients must meet income guidelines. 

The Energy Assistance Department operates various Direct Assistance programs. As part of the overall operation, services are provided for information and referrals, counseling and case management.

 

SENIOR NUTRITION PROGRAM AND SENIOR SERVICES

EACGC provides home delivered meals to homebound seniors and disabled citizens of Matagorda County through various programs.
 
EACGC provides transportation services to seniors to the congregate meal site, doctor appointments, grocery shopping, etc.

EACGC also provides hot meals to senior citizens in the community at the following sites:

What We Do

Economic Action Committee of the Gulf Coast is a non-profit organization that is instrumental in providing low income individuals in Matagorda and Wharton County the opportunity to contribute to the full extent of their capabilities and to participate in the workings of our society.

Economic Action Committee will strive to eliminate poverty in Matagorda and Wharton County by opening to all low income individuals the opportunity for education and training and the opportunity to work and to live with decency and dignity. Economic Action Committee will supplement and coordinate other efforts in our community in furtherance of this policy.
